இங்கு கோயம்புத்தூரில் பிரதாப் வீட்டில் அவன் அம்மா ஜானகி அ வனுக்கு பிறந்த நாள் வாழ்த்துக்க ள் சொல்லி இனிப்பை ஊட்டினா ர். கீர்த்தி வந்திருந்தாள் அவளு ம் பிரதாப்புக்கு ஒரு பரிசை கொடுத் து வாழ்த்தை தெரிவித்தாள்.
கீர்த்தி, என்னஅண்ணா நாங்க எல் லாம் வாழ்த்து சொல்றோம் முகத்தி ல் சந்தோஷமே இல்ல, அண்ணி சொன்னாதான் முகம் மலருமோ எ ன்றாள் கிண்டலாக, பிரதாப் வெட் கப்பட்டவன் அதெல்லாம் ஒன்னு ம் இல்லடா என்றான் சிரித்துக் கொண்டே
உடனே ஜானகி என்னடா அங்க ரெண்டு பேரும் என்ன விட்டுட்டு என்ன பேசுறீங்க என்ன கேட்டார்.கீ ர்த்தி உடனே சொல்லவா என சிரித் தபடி கேட்டாள்.பிரதாப் வேண்டா ம், என கண்களால் மறுத்தான். இ வர்கள் பேசிக்கொள்வதே கண்ட ஜானு கீர்த்தி காதை பிடித்து திருகி யவர், ஏய் குட்டி இப்ப என்ன ரகசி யம் பேசினீங்கன்னு சொல்ல போறீ ங்களா இல்லையா என கேட்டார் அதட்டலாய்,
கீர்த்தி, உடனேஅண்ணா காப்பாத் து இல் லனா உண்மையை சொல் லிடுவேன் என குறும்பாக கண்சிமி ட்டினாள். பிரதாப், அம் மா அவள விடுங்க ஒன்னும் இல்ல வெளி யே போக பணம் கேட்டா அது தான் வேற ஒன்னும் இல்லை என்றான்
ஜானகி,மறுத்தவர் இல்ல ஏதோ அ ண்ணி னு காதுல கேட்டது, எனக்கு ஒழுங்கா சொ ல்லுங்க இல்ல, ரெ ண்டு பேரையும் விட மாட்டேன் எ ன்றார்.
கீர்த்தி வலி தாங்க முடியாதவள் எ னக்கு வலி தாங்கல அண்ணா அத னால நான் உண்மையை சொல்லி டுறேன்,அம்மா அண்ணா வந்தனா அண்ணிய லவ் பண்றார். அதுவும் அஞ்சு வருஷமா இப்ப கூட அண் ணி விஷ் பண்ணலனு தான் வரு த்தமா இருக்காரு என்றவள் அண் ணா சாரி என தப்பித்து ஓடி விட் டாள்.
பிரதாப் சிரித்தபடி தலைகுனிந்து நின்றி ருந்தான், ஜானு அவனிடம் வந்தவர் டேய் நல்லவனே உன்கிட் ட இதை நான் எதிர்பார்க்கல டா, பெரிய கேடியால இருந்திருக்க அம் மாகிட்ட மறைச்சிட்டியேடா சொல் லி இருந்தா இவ்ளோ வருஷம் வெ யிட் பண் ணி இருக்க வேணாமே என்றார்
பிரதாப் அம்மா எனக்கு மட்டும் அ வ மேல ஆசை இல்லையா அம்மா கோடி கோடியே ஆசை வச்சிருக்கே ன் ஆனா நான் சொல்லப்போன நேரம் அவளுக்கு திருமணம் நிச்ச யம் ஆயிடுச்சு என்னென்னவோ ந டந்துருச்சு என்றவன், ஆனா அவ ளை இன்னைக்கு இந்த நிமிஷம் வரை என்னால மறக்க முடியல மா
அவளுக்கு தாலி கட்டி நாடு கடத்தி டுவேன், ஆறு மாசத்துக்கு இந்தியா பக்கமே வ ரமாட்டேன் ஜானு என் றான் அவர் கன்னத்தை கிள்ளி வெட்கச் சிரிப்புடன்,
ஜானகி, ஐயோ என் புள்ள வெட்க ப்படுறா னே, அழகன் டா போடா டேய் போய் என் மருமகளை கூட்டி ட்டு வா என்றார் சந்தோஷமாய்,
அவனும் அவர் கன்னம் கிள்ளிய வன் சோ ஸ்வீட் ஜானு என்றவன் வந்தனா வீட்டிற்கு கிளம்பினான் கூடவே இன்று கீர்த்தியையும் அ ழைத்து கொண்டு போனான்.
வந்தன அறையில் இருந்தாள் கல் பனா சமைத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார், மேகநாதன் வெளியே சென்று இரு ந்தார் பிரதாப்பின் சத்தம் கேட்டது ம்,கல்பனா,வாப்பா பிரதாப் வாடி கீர்த்தி எப்படி இருக்க உன் வீட்டுக் காரர் சுகமா என்றார்.அவளும் நல் லா இருக்காரு ஆன்ட்டி,வந்தனா மேடம் எங்கே என க் கேட்டாள். பிர தாப்பின் கண்களும் அவளைத் தான் தேடியது.
கல்பனா அவ மேல ரூம்ல இருக்கா சாப்பி ட வர நேரம் தான் வந்து உட் காருங்க, இன்னைக்கு ரெண்டு பே ரும் சாப்பிட்டு தான் போகணும் எ ன்றார். கீர்த்தி ஆன்ட்டி இன்னைக் கு அண்ணாக்கு பிறந்தநாள் என் றாள். கல்பனா, ஓ அப்படியா வாழ் த்துக்கள் பிரதாப் தம்பி என்றார். அவனும் எழுந்து தேங்க்ஸ் ஆன்ட் டி என்றவன் அவர் காலில் விழுந் து ஆசீர்வாதம் வாங்கிக் கொண்டா ன் அவரும் வாழ்த்தினார்.
கீர்த்தி ஆன்ட்டி நாங்க மேல போய் வந்தனா மேடத்தை பார்க் கி றோம் என்றாள். கல்பனா சரிடா நீங்க போங்க நான் உங்க ளுக்கு ஜூஸ் எடுத்துட்டு வரேன் என்றார்.
இவர்களும் தலையாட்டிவிட்டு மே லே செ ன்றனர் அவள் அறைக்கு,
கதவைத் தட்டி இருவரும் உள்ளே நுழைந் தனர்,அங்கே வந்தனா ஆ ங்கில நாவல் ஒன்றை படித்துக் கண்டிருந்தாள். இவர்களை பார்த் ததும், ஹான் வாங்க வாங்க பிரதா ப் சார், என்ன ரெண்டு பேரும் ஒன் னா வந்து இருக்கீங்க,வா கீர்த்தி லைஃப் எல்லாம் எப்படி போயிட்டு இருக்கு என கேட்டாள்.

பிரதாப் அவள் முகத்தையே பார்த் திருந்தான். உடனே கீர்த்தி சிரித்த வள் அண்ணா, வந்த விஷயத்தை மறந்துட்ட பாரு என நினைவூட்டி னாள். வந்தனா என்ன விஷயம் என்றாள் இருவரையும் பார்த்து
கீர்த்தி அண்ணாக்கு இன்னைக்கு பிறந்த நாள் மேடம் என்றாள். வந் தனா ஐ அம் சோ சாரி எனக்கு தெரி யாது, கிப்ட் கூட வாங்கி வைக்கல பிரதாப்சார் என்றவள், அவன் கை யைப் பிடித்து மெனி மோர் ஹாப் பி ரிட்டர்ன்ஸ் ஆப் தி டே என்றாள் சிரித்த முகத்துடன்,

ஆனால் பிரதாப் விட வேண்டுமே இரண்டு தடவை அழைத்தும் நி னைவிற்கு வரவில்லை. கீர்த்தி த ன் தலையில் தட்டிக் கொண்டவள், பிரதாப்பை உலுக்கியவள் அண் ணா என்றாள். அதில் சுயம் வந்த வன் ஹான் என்னடா என்றான்.
