அன்று வந்தனா வேடிக்கை பார்க் கலாம் என பால்கனியில் வந்த அ மர்ந்தாள். மிக வும் பிடித்திருந் தது அவளுக்கு மழை வரும் போல் இரு ந்ததால் குளிர் காற்று முகத்தில் வந்து அடித்தது.
அதே நேரம் கேட்டின் பக்கத்தில் வாட்ச்மேன் கையில் ஒருகுழந்தை யுடன் நின்ற பெண்ணிடம் ஏதோ சொல்லி திட்டி அனுப்பிக் கொண் டிருந்தார் அந்த பெண் அழுது கொ ண்டே ஏதோ கூறி கொண்டிருந்தா ள்.
சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து அழுது கொ ண்டே சென்று விட்டாள்.இரண்டு மூன்றுமுறை இதை கவனித்தாள் வந்தனா,யாராக இருக்கும் என யோசித்தவள்,வாட்ச்மனிடம் கேட்ட தற்கு வேலை கேட்டு வந்ததுமா இ ல்லைன்னு சொல்லி அனுப்பிட்டே ன் என்றா ர் தயக்கமாய் சிறிது பய த்துடன்,
இரண்டுநாள் கழித்து அந்தப் பெ ண் வெளியே இருப்பதை பார்த்த வள் என்னவெ ன்று கேட்க இறங்கி வந்தாள், அதற்குள் அந்தப் பெண் அங்கு இல்லை. வந்தனா யோச னையுடன் மேலே சென்று விட்டா ள்.
அடுத்த இரண்டு நாட்கள் கழித்து வந்தனா தோட்டத்தில் கல்பனா உதவியுடன் உலாவிக்கொண்டிரு ந்தாள். கோர்ட்க்கு செல்ல இன்னும் இரண்டு நாட்கள் இருந்தது. வீட்டி ல் அவளை ராணி போல பார்த்து க் கொண்டனர்.பிரதாப்பும் ஆதவு ம் எதையும் இப்போதைக்கு யோசிக் க வேண்டாம். மனதை லேசாக வைத்துக் கொள்ளும்படி அறிவு ரை கூறியிருந்தனர்.

வாட்ச்மேன் வந்தனாவை பார்த்த தும் அம்மா நீங்க போங்க நீங்க ஏ மா இங்க எல்லாம் வந்துகிட்டு, நீங் க போங்க இதை நான் பார்த்துக்கி றேன் என்றார். வந்தனா அந்த பெ ண்ணை யாரென பார்த்தாள். அந் த பெண்ணும் அழகாய் இருந்தாள். அவளை எங்கோ பார்த்தது போல நினைவு சட்டென ஞாபகம் வரவி ல்லை.
